Nutrigold launches next-generation Non-GMO Project verified PlantGels with omega 3
20 Nov 2017 --- Organic supplement company NutriGold has launched its Non-GMO Project verified omega 3 fish oils in next-generation PlantGels – a plant-based vegan softgel made from tapioca. The company’s innovative PlantGels are said to represent a cleaner and healthier alternative to softgels made using carrageenan, bovine, porcine or fish gelatin.
NutriGold points out that PlantGels help to address existing barriers to Non-GMO Project verification for products encapsulated using animal gelatin because of inherent challenges in verifying the non-GMO status of a source animal’s feedstock.
The company adds that the launch expresses its commitment to the Non-GMO Project in the strongest way possible and reinforces its position as the industry leader in innovative, clean-label products.
Explaining the transition to PlantGels, Osman Khan, COO and co-founder of NutriGold, says: “Our success with PlantGels is the culmination of previously unsuccessful attempts to replace animal-sourced gelatin in our omega 3 products with a plant-based alternative that is not only safer than carrageenan but also meets our exacting purity and safety standards.”
NutriGold adds that like all its products, its Omega-3 Fish Oils are independently verified to meet purity, potency and freshness standards. This is so consumers can be confident that what’s on the label is actually in the bottle, the company says.
Listing the products’ benefits, NutriGold points out that its Omega-3 Fish Oils are:
- Non-GMO Project verified.
- IFOS 5-star certified.
- Pesco-vegetarian friendly and halal.
- Marine Stewardship Council Certified Sustainable.
- Made from Wild Alaska Pollack.
- In the highly-bioavailable triglyceride form.
- Sourced, processed and manufactured in the US.
In other recent omega 3 news, the fatty acids have been linked to a boost in gut microbiome diversity by a study by researchers at the University of Nottingham and King’s College London, who found that women who had a higher dietary intake of omega 3 and higher serum levels had a more diverse gut microbiome. Elsewhere, a scientific review of two studies has concluded that children whose mothers consume high-dose omega 3 fatty acids daily during the third trimester – whether through supplementation or eating fish – are less likely to have offspring who develop asthma.
