20 Aug 2018 --- Animal nutritionists Happy Go Healthy has released a new all-in-one solution to support joint, bone, skin and gut health for dogs of all breeds and sizes. The producer claims that the new product “helps pets live better, more active lives.” Brand innovation agency Spicefire provided the branding inspiration for the launch, with the flexible pouches showing a dog leaping through the “o” of “Go” to illustrate the active nutritional benefits of the supplement.
13 Aug 2018 --- Packaging for pets is big business – it is estimated to account for around five percent of the total European demand for flexible plastic-based packaging. 04 Jul 2018 --- Coffee consumption is associated with lower mortality rates and can be part of a healthy diet, says a study published in JAMA Internal Medicine. Researchers found that those who drink six or seven cups of coffee per day were 16 percent less likely to die from a fatal disease than those drinking no coffee.
14 May 2018 --- Ocean Harvest Technology Limited of Ireland and Barentz International, headquartered in the Netherlands, have reached an agreement for Barentz Animal Nutrition to formally act as a distributor for the OceanFeed brand of proprietary blended seaweed products in a large part of Europe.
22 Mar 2018 --- French venture capital firm Seventure Partners has launched a venture capital fund targeted at supporting companies in the field of animal health, feed and nutrition, called AVF. The first close of AVF, at €24 million, is corner stoned by Adisseo, an industry heavyweight in the animal feed sector. AVF’s investment strategy will reportedly focus on two segments at the forefront of the modern agricultural and livestock revolution: animal health, feed and nutrition and digital technologies serving the livestock industry.
07 Nov 2017 --- A recent study conducted by Iowa State University has found that Archer Daniels Midland Company’s (ADM) flaxseed oil is twice as efficient at enriching egg yolks with omega 3 fatty acids when compared to whole, ground flaxseed. Researchers arrived at their conclusion after examining the egg production, feed intake and egg weight of three distinct groups of laying hens, ADM reports. These groups included a control group placed on a diet without flaxseed oil, a group fed a diet of feed enriched with ADM’s flaxseed oil, and a final group given feed mixed with whole, ground flaxseed.
22 Sep 2017 --- Royal DSM, a global science-based company active in health, nutrition and materials, has announced the acquisition of Twilmij B.V., a well-established Dutch nutritional solutions company in the animal feed sector. DSM notes that its strategy in Animal Nutrition & Health is to offer tailor-made solutions to its customers leveraging its product portfolio and innovation capabilities.
31 Aug 2017 --- South Korea’s CJ CheilJedang Corp plans to expand its portfolio now that it has acquired a 90 percent stake in Brazilian soy protein maker Selecta, one of the world’s largest producers of soy protein concentrate (SPC), which is used to produce animal feed. The sale was done for 450 million reais (US$143 million), according to a Reuters report.
24 Aug 2017 --- Humans are not the only ones to suffer from food intolerance and allergy symptoms like swelling in the face or an asthma attack. Other animals, such as cats, dogs and horses, are affected after feeding as well, according to a new study by the Messerli Research Institute, a cooperation between the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna and the Medical University of Vienna. In fact, the number of pets affected by food allergies and intolerances has even converged with that of humans.
08 Mar 2017 --- Royal DSM and Evonik have announced plans to establish a joint venture producing omega-3 fatty acid products from natural marine algae for the animal nutrition and aquaculture markets. The innovation will enable the sustainable production of omega-3 fatty acids for animal nutrition without using fish oil from wild caught fish.

25 Mar 2015 --- By adding ingredients rich in n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids, like flax seeds, and CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid) to the food of cattle, their fat was modified, achieving an increase in omega-3 fatty acids and CLA –regarded as being beneficial for health– and a reduction in saturated fatty acids linked to cardiovascular disease.
10 Nov 2014 --- Arthritis pain in dogs can be relieved, with no side effects, by a new product based on medicinal plants and dietary supplements that was developed at the University of Montreal's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. "While acupuncture and electrical stimulation are two approaches that have been shown to have positive effects on dogs, until now a few studies have investigated a plant-based approach to therapy," explained Professor Éric Troncy, senior author of the study. His findings were published in Research in Veterinary Science.
21 Feb 2014 --- Big Heart Pet Brands, previously Del Monte Foods’ (DMF) Pet Products business, announces its launch as the largest standalone pet food and snacks company in North America. The creation of Big Heart Pet Brands follows the company’s sale of its Consumer Products division to Del Monte Pacific Limited (DMPL). The sale to DMPL closed on February 18, 2014.
