Conducted with Newcastle University researchers in the UK, the study shows how the collagen ingredient can help repair connective tissues after physical activity, thereby preventing the risk of injury when used as a food supplement in sports nutrition. As the first clinical study showing the beneficial effects of collagen peptides for exercise recovery, the findings support the ingredient’s positioning as suitable for sports nutrition.

The study also identified that long-term mineral supplementation increased the ability to maintain the strength once exercise training had stopped. The findings could be significant in maximizing bone mass and strength in young adulthood to protect against the potential declines that come with aging.

Researchers from the University of Missouri now have discovered through a new animal study that soy protein found in food might counter the negative effects of menopause on bone and metabolic health. 12 Jul 2018 --- Sticking to a diet rich in fruit, vegetables, nuts, unrefined cereals, olive oil and fish can reduce hip bone loss within just 12 months, according to research from the University of East Anglia. The study is the first long-term, pan-European clinical trial looking at the impact of a Mediterranean diet on bone health in older adults. More than 1,000 people aged between 65 and 79 took part in the trial, and volunteers were randomized into two groups – one which followed a Mediterranean diet and a control group which did not. Bone density was measured at the start and after 12 months. The diet had no discernible impact on participants with normal bone density, but it did have an effect on those with osteoporosis.
