Nexira expands botanical portfolio with new magnolia extract

08 Sep 2017 --- With the global population getting older, and the growing interest of athletes and Millennials, joint health is a rising category. These health-conscious consumers are looking for natural and plant-based solutions to stay healthy and active. Nexira is tapping into this trend by expanding their portfolio with a new magnolia extract that promotes joint and digestive health.

At the same time, many people are suffering from digestive discomforts and are looking for natural alternatives to improve their well-being.

Magnolia Officinalis, commonly called Hou pu Magnolia, has been used for hundred years in Chinese traditional medicine. Literature says this ingredient supports joint health and digestive health.

Nexira raw material is carefully selected and sourced from Zhejiang Province, China. Magnolia is a long term involvement for farmers as trees are cultivated during 30 to 50 years. To preserve the old tree, the bark is peeled off by hand and magnolia bark chips are obtained.

Nexira has already launched a new brand at the last Vitafoods, FlexiGO dedicated to joint health.

“We believe in the joint health category increase. That’s why we want to diversify our offer on this segment by proposing other natural solutions with vegetable origin to our customers,” says the company.

Magnolia extract will also complete the range of products dedicated to digestive health, the core business of Nexira with Fibregum.

Manufactured in France, in Nexira’s own plant located near Bordeaux, the magnolia extract is standardized at 3 percent magnolol and honokiol. It is suitable for vegetarians and vegans. Soluble, tasteless, with a light spicy odor and a light brown color, it is easy-to-use in supplement applications (capsule, tablet, stick and so on).

“Our R&D team is still working on this ingredient to offer a complete range with other percentages of magnolol and honokiol,” the company notes.

Nexira will present its new magnolia extract for joint and digestive health at SupplySide West later this month.
